20 cars are committed to the teams test – one organized independently from official series’ tests – with AJ Foyt Racing (2), Andretti Global (3), Arrow McLaren (3), Chip Ganassi Racing (3), Dale Coyne Racing (2), Meyer Shank Racing (2), Team Penske (3), and PREMA Racing (2). More are expected to join.

The incredible legacy of the Unser family at Phoenix Raceway will be honored when the NTT INDYCAR SERIES conducts an Open Test on Feb. 17-18 at the desert oval in advance of the series’ highly anticipated return to the track.

The Unser INDYCAR Open Test at Phoenix Raceway is open to all teams as they prepare for the Good Ranchers 250 on Saturday, March 7 as part of a buzzworthy weekend alongside NASCAR, providing a joint showcase of North American racing in partnership with FOX Sports. It’s the first INDYCAR SERIES race at the historic, 1.022-mile Phoenix oval since 2018.

Cars will be on track from 2-6 p.m. ET (noon-4 p.m. MT) on Tuesday, Feb. 17, with testing scheduled for 11 a.m.-2 p.m. ET (9 a.m.-noon MT) and 3:30-6:30 p.m. ET (1:30-4:30 p.m. MT) Wednesday, Feb. 18. The Wednesday sessions will be open and free to the public, with an autograph session at 2:45 p.m. ET (12:45 p.m. MT).

“The name Unser is synonymous with Phoenix Raceway,” INDYCAR President J. Douglas Boles said. “We’re honored to salute this family’s incredible accomplishments at their home track for this important Open Test, which sets the stage for INDYCAR’s return to Phoenix in March. As a longtime fan of the sport, I also really appreciate that the logo for this special test features some familiar colors from cars driven by Al and Bobby, which I’m sure will bring back many great memories for our loyal fans.”

The 1.8-mile, 14-turn (5 lefts, 9 rights) circuit incorporates streets of downtown St. Petersburg and a section of runway of Albert Whitted Airport. After the long frontstretch, there's a tight right-hander into Turn 1 and then a quick left-hand turn. Plenty of drivers have gotten into trouble in these two turns over the years. There are two other long straights with heavy braking zones that afford opportunities to overtake.

Phoenix Raceway, located in Avondale, Arizona, is a one-mile tri-oval known for its distinctive dogleg that sparks exciting passing and challenges the world's best drivers. Since opening in 1964, it has hosted a wide range of major racing series, cementing its reputation as a versatile motorsports venue. With modern amenities, fan-friendly access, and a scenic desert backdrop, Phoenix Raceway delivers thrilling competition and a unique atmosphere that continues to make it a standout destination for racing fans.

Three championship organizations, Penske Entertainment, the Dallas Cowboys and REV Entertainment, the official events partner of the Texas Rangers, are uniting to bring INDYCAR to the streets of Arlington, Texas. The 2.73-mile track layout will feature two iconic sporting venues recognized by fans around the world: AT&T Stadium, home of the National Football League’s Dallas Cowboys, and Globe Life Field, home of Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers. The track will weave through Arlington’s core sports and entertainment district. Features of the new layout include a split-pit lane and a technical horseshoe section next to AT&T Stadium.

The 74th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring is March 21, 2026.  Eight races and multiple practice and qualifying sessions will take place beginning Wednesday, March 18. Since its first running in 1952, the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring has been known as one of the world's premier motorsports events.  Winning drivers have included legendary figures such as Mario Andretti, A.J. Foyt, Juan Manuel Fangio, Dan Gurney and Hurley Haywood.  More recently, contemporary drivers including Sebring's all-time winningest driver Tom Kristensen (six overall wins), Scott Pruett and Pipo Derani have added their names to Sebring's history books.  Current drivers and teams continue to make history each year.

Barber Motorsports Park just outside of Birmingham, Alabama is a 2.3-mile permanent road course with 17 flowing turns and features 80 feet of elevation change that challenge drivers and engineers. A 45-foot-wide racing ribbon also makes it imperative for patience while setting up overtaking opportunities.

The 1.968-mile, 11-turn temporary street circuit encircles the Long Beach Convention Center -- which houses a Family Fun Zone and numerous displays during the race weekend -- and runs down scenic Shoreline Drive. It offers numerous overtaking opportunities, including Turn 1, getting the hairpin turn just before the frontstretch right is critical.

All NTT Indycar teams will participate in the 2 day test in preparation for the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500. Viewing for fans will be available on the Turn 2 mounds.

The 2.439-mile, 14-turn road course incorporates portions of Turns 1 and 2 and the frontstraight of the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval and the remainder of the circuit is within the infield, allowing for great spectator viewing.

The quarter-mile Anderson Speedway was built in 1948 by legendary promoter Joe Helpling and a large group of men working for 25 cents per hour. Although Helpling had planned on constructing a bowling alley and recreation center on his 32 acre tract at 29th street and Pendleton Avenue, two Anderson city councilmen suggested that he instead consider building a racetrack. Helpling had never seen a race of any type, so he traveled to Armscamp Speedway in Alexandria and 16th Street Speedway in Indianapolis (Both tracks are no longer in existence) to get some ideas.

After those visits, the decision was made: it was racing. In 1948, Sun Valley Speedway (as it was originally known) officially opened for competition. The Roaring Roadsters and AAA Midgets were the most popular programs, so Helpling decided to present an idea to members of the Mutual Racing Association, which was the sanctioning body for the Roadsters during that period. A press conference was held in early 1949 at the old Anderson Hotel, where Helpling unveiled his idea to start 33 roadster in a 500-lap event. Everybody scoffed and said that it would never work. Pressure was put on Helpling to reduce the race length to 200 or 300 laps, because it would probably cost $800 per car for tires and no car would finish. “Then we’ll run bicycles,” Helpling said.” Because we’re gonna have a Little 500 and that’s the way it’s gonna be.” In the inaugural event, to the surprise of most, 18 roadsters finished, five of which did not even make a pit stop. Sam Skinner won that event, with Bob Block finishing second and Tom Cherry filling out the podium finishers.

The new era of the Detroit Grand Prix continues as the event returns to the streets of Downtown Detroit from May 30 to June 1, culminating in the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix. The new Grand Prix will feature three full days of activities and celebrations on some of Detroit’s most popular and active Downtown areas, including racing on a 1.645-mile, nine-turn street circuit along Jefferson Avenue, Bates Street, Atwater Street, St. Antoine, Franklin Street and Rivard.

World Wide Technology Raceway, located just ouside of St. Louis, Missouri , in the Metro East city of Madison, Illinois, is an intriguing 1.25-mile (2.01 km) oval favored by many of the drivers who race there due to the unique shape and varying degrees of banking in each corner. Turns 1 & 2 have characteristics similar to New Hampshire Motor Speedway while Turns 3 & 4 are similar to Phoenix Raceway and the track's egg shape is reminiscent of the oval at Twin Ring Motegi.

Established in 1955, Road America is located midway between Milwaukee and Green Bay in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Its legendary four-mile, 14-turn road circuit has challenged the world’s best racers for over a half century. The 640-acre, park-like grounds offer amazing viewing opportunities, fantastic concessions and high-speed excitement to thousands of spectators each year. In addition to public race weekends such as the XPEL Grand Prix at Road America, the track offers group event programs, the Road America Motorplex for karting and supermoto, and the Road America Motorcycle and Advanced Driving Schools.

The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, approximately halfway between Columbus and Cleveland, is a 2.258-mile, 13-turn natural-terrain road course that offers a little of everything -- elevation changes, high-speed corners, flowing corners, tight corners, a narrow (40 feet) racing ribbon and a challenging entry to pit lane.

Nashville Superspeedway, Middle Tennessee’s racing jewel, is known for its high-intensity, wheel-to-wheel action. It's also home to the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix, where the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and INDY NXT by Firestone will determine its season champions. The 1.33-mile D-shaped concrete oval features 14 degrees of banking and has hosted eight NTT INDYCAR SERIES events.

Portland International Raceway opened in 1961 on the former location of the city of Vanport, which was destroyed by the Memorial Day 1948 flood. The 12-turn, 1.964-mile natural road course is relatively flat but contains several spots for passing opportunities, including a quick chicane at the end of the frontstretch, a hard-braking right-hander (Turn 7) leading onto the sweeping backstretch, and a three-turn complex leading back onto the fronstretch. Al Unser Jr. won the first INDYCAR SERIES race in 1984. In 1997, the race set the now current all-time record for the closest two-car and closest three-car finish in INDYCAR SERIES racing history on a road course. Mark Blundell beat second-place Gil de Ferran by 0.027 of a second, and beat third-place Raul Boesel by 0.055 of a second, in a three-wide finish.

INDYCAR returns to Ontario in 2026 at the all new Streets of Markham.The temporary track will be built in the eastern precinct of Markham’s downtown district and features a 12-turn, 3.52-kilometre (2.19-mile) layout including a double-sided pit lane, thrilling straightaways and technically challenging sectors.

INDYCAR To Deliver First Motor Race in History on the National Mall

An executive order signed today by President Donald J. Trump directed the White House Task Force on Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday to designate a race route through Washington, D.C. and the National Mall for the purposes of conducting an NTT INDYCAR SERIES race on Aug. 21-23, 2026. The event will recognize the historic milestone of America’s independence in addition to celebrating the unparalleled tradition and legacy of America’s motorsports industry.

“INDYCAR racing is a source of pride and entertainment for our Nation, which is why I am pleased to announce the Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C.” said President Trump via the executive order. “This race, the first motor race ever to be held in our Nation’s capital near the National Mall, will showcase the majesty of our great city as drivers navigate a track around our iconic national monuments in celebration of America’s 250th birthday.”

The event will be administered by INDYCAR in coordination with the taskforce, U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of the Interior and Washington, D.C.’s Executive Office of the Mayor.
